Zorro

Internationally recognized author Isabel Allende crafted the classic story of how the young Diego de la Vega became Zorro in Zorro: A Novel. Her imaginative tale explores the historic legend with dramatic intensity. It weaves together Spanish and Californian history, mythic folk tales, salty sea voyages, pirate adventures, Native American lore, and more. Now approaching its 15^th year in publication, Zorro: A Novel has been translated into more than 32 languages and remains popular worldwide.

Isabel’s literary genius has been recognized by The American Academy of Arts and Letters, where she was selected as a distinguished member in 2004. She was also appointed a Hans Christian Anderson Ambassador for the Danish author’s bicentennary in 2005. She was awarded Chile’s most prestigious literary award, their National Prize for Literature, in 2010, the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Barack Obama in 2014, the PEN Center USA’s Lifetime Achievement award in 2016, and the National Book Award in 2018.
