ZORRO:The Sword and the Rose
ZORRO: la Espada y la
Rosa premiered on Februrary 12, 2007 on Telemundo affiliates
across
the United States. The seaon finale aired on July 23, 2007 after
122 episodes.
Christian
Meier starred as "Zorro" in the classic legend and passionate love
story. His co-stars were Marlene Favela, Arturo Peniche, Osvaldo
Rios and Erick Elías.
All episodes on
Telemundo were closed-captioned in English and in Spanish.

streamed the last five aired episodes.
The theme song for
the novela, "Amor Gitana," was a duet performed by superstars Beyonce and Alejandro Fernandez. The
sensual flamenco- pop track was
written by Grammy winning songwriter and recording artist, Reyli, and
Jamie Flores, co-written by Beyonce. It was produced by
Grammy winner Rudy Perez.
The stellar
production also featured performances by Jorge Cao, Héctor
Suárez Gomís, Natasha Klauss, Harry Geithner, Andrea
Montenegro, Andrea López, Luly Bossa, Cristian Tappan, Ricardo
González and Natalia Bedoya.
Telemundo-RTI with
Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) and Zorro Productions,
Inc. began filming the 122 one hour episodes in Cartegena,
Colombia. Further episodes were shot on location in and
around Bogota.
The scripts were
developed, written and shot entirely in Spanish. Highly acclaimed
writer Humberto "Kiko" Olivieri led the team of writers for the
novela, which was set in the mid-1800's in Spain and California.
Patricio Wills and
Hugo Leon Ferrer (Decisiones, Pasion
de Gavilanes, La Viuda de Blanco,
La Tormenta) executive produced the series. RTI Productions
(Pasion de Gavilanes, Te Toy a Ensenar a Querer)
handled the physical production.
